d66 Encounters In a Fungal Jungle

In the great, green jungle or forest that time forgot (but mushrooms remembered all too well), where every step could squelch or crunch underfoot, adventurers find themselves in a landscape more fungal than flora. It's a place where toadstools tower like trees, and the trees themselves are somewhere beneath the creeping moss and glowing spores. Here, the air hums with a thick, earthy scent, and every shadow seems to house something spongy, spiky, or suspiciously squishy. Brave souls entering this spore-ridden wilderness must be ready for anything—because "anything" is likely already creeping up behind them, covered in cap-like growths and maybe even sporting a few extra eyes.

d11
A forgotten well, its stone walls covered in thick, fibrous tendrils of fungus that seem to pulse with a heartbeat of their own, as the water below reflects a strange, shifting light. Whatever house this well once served has completely rotted away and remains only as a squishy mound of biomass.
d12
A once-proud tree, its insides completely hollowed out and replaced by a network of bioluminescent fungus, glows softly from within, casting an inviting yet ominous purplish light.
d13
A hulking, quadrupedal beast, covered in thick, armor-like slabs of fungus, stomps through the forest, its breath releasing clouds of toxic spores that cling to anything they touch.
d14
A sudden downpour of thick, oily rain drenched with spores coats everything it touches in a slick layer of fungus, which rapidly grows and hardens into a restrictive shell.
d15
A perfect circle of black-capped mushrooms surrounds a pool of still, dark water that reflects the night sky even during the day. The mushrooms’ gills emit a faint, sickly-sweet scent, and anyone who lingers too long near the ring feels an overwhelming urge to wade into the water, drawn by the faint, ghostly images that flicker beneath the surface.
d16
A once-elegant dryad now has her bark-like skin overrun with creeping clusters of toadstools and parasols. She giggles uncontrollably as she weaves erratic, nonsensical patterns in the air, her eyes glazed over with spore-induced delirium. Most of the mushrooms on her body leak a greenish latex.
d21
A gentle breeze carries a faint, pleasant scent that gradually becomes overpowering, drawing you toward a large, gaping fungal bloom that seems to pulse with a predatory hunger.
d22
A partially concealed cave, its entrance covered by a loose netting of whitish fungal tendrils. Within, its walls are slick with a luminous, gelatinous fungus that drips slowly to the floor, where it collects in pools that seem to ripple with a life of their own.
d23
A group of short, thin creatures which may have once been goblins, with mushroom caps for heads and spindly fingers. They seem to be engaged in some ritual, their movements slow and deliberate as they tend to a glowing, pulsating spore in their midst.
d24
The temperature suddenly drops, and frost forms on nearby mushrooms, which crack and release clouds of spores that freeze into jagged, crystalline shards as they drift through the air.
d25
A circle of mushrooms with translucent, jelly-like caps grows around an ancient stone altar covered in strange runes. Anyone who approaches feels a sudden chill as if they've entered a place where the air is too thin, and the silence is heavy with unseen eyes watching.
d26
A trio of tiny pixies flit about with wings made of delicate mushroom gills, trailing a cloud of sparkling spores that cause anyone nearby to burst into fits of uncontrollable sobbing.
d31
A skeletal figure draped in a robe of lichen and fungal tendrils glides silently through the trees, its empty eye sockets glowing with an unnatural, sickly light.
d32
A towering stone spire, once part of an ancient fortress, lies broken and overrun with glowing mushrooms, their light casting eerie shadows on the crumbling walls.
d33
A series of burial mounds dot the earth, each topped with a solitary, towering mushroom that sways gently despite the still air. The mounds themselves are covered in a delicate layer of moss, and the mushrooms release a faint, shimmering mist.
d34
A seemingly ordinary patch of ground gives way to a hidden quagmire of thick, fungal sludge that pulls at your legs with a surprising strength, threatening to drag you under.
d35
A ring of mushrooms with vividly colored caps that change hue as you move around them encircles a patch of soil that seems to be bubbling slightly. The mushrooms release sporadic bursts of spores that cause vivid hallucinations of eerie, shifting shapes and sounds, making it nearly impossible to discern reality from illusion within the ring.
d36
A corrupted satyr, his horns now twisted and covered in vibrant, glowing lichen, plays a disjointed tune on his pipes that compels anyone who hears it to fall into an unsettled sleep and dream of towering vortexes of multi-colored spores.
d41
A network of ancient roots that twist and wind through the earth, now completely overtaken by a creeping fungal mass, forming tunnels that echo with strange, distant sounds.
d42
A clearing in the forest where the ground has sunken into a massive crater, filled with oozing mushrooms that emit a low hum, and at the center, a massive, quivering spore sac pulsates as if waiting for something - or someone - to come near.
d43
A bizarre, floating jellyfish-like creature drifts past, its translucent body filled with glowing spores that pulse hypnotically.
d44
A massive fairy ring, made up of giant mushrooms that tower above like ancient sentinels, hums with strange melody, and those who step inside often find themselves lost for hours or days.
d45
A clearing filled with impossibly large puffballs that burst with clouds of glittering spores when disturbed, forming shapes that dance and swirl before dissipating.
d46
A swarm of buzzing insects, their bodies fused with tiny fungal growths, zips around in chaotic patterns, as if controlled by a singular, fungal hive mind.
d51
A crumbling village overtaken by creeping moss and fungal growths; the buildings sag under the weight of massive mushrooms that have sprouted from rooftops and walls. Rats, mice, squirrels, and moles sit atop the ruined walls, watching with no fear, licking their paws.
d52
A vibrant fungal bloom suddenly bursts into flames, sending up a plume of thick, black smoke that chokes the lungs and leaves a bitter, metallic taste in the mouth.
d53
A patch of vibrant moss seems soft underfoot, but as you step on it, the ground gives way, revealing a hidden pit lined with sharp fungal spikes that release paralytic spores on contact.
d54
A low, rhythmic rumble passes through the ground, and nearby mushroom caps tremble and then burst, releasing spores that cause temporary blindness in anyone nearby.
d55
A ring of twisted, gnarled mushrooms, each one shaped like a grotesque, tiny skull, surrounds a cluster of rotting trees. The ground within the ring is eerily smooth and soft, almost like a pillow, and anyone who steps inside hears faint, haunting whispers that seem to come from the trees themselves, urging them to stay forever.
d56
A giant, spindly six-legged creature with a conical rainbow-colored cap scuttles across your path, its gills twitching as it releases a sweet, soporific scent to lure you closer. It will zig-zag across your path until you leave the forest or kill it.
d61
A trail of brightly colored mushrooms lines a narrow path, each cap releasing a burst of spores as you pass, which fuse together into sticky, web-like strands that cling to you with an unnatural strength.
d62
A bubbling swamp filled with knee-high toadstools emits a sweet, intoxicating scent; anyone who lingers too long begins to see visions of the swamp's former inhabitants, now claimed by the fungi.
d63
A group of will-o’-wisps, their ethereal lighted forms now shrouded with whispy tendrils, drift aimlessly through the air, flickering dimly and erratically as they mumble strange, disjointed warnings that make little sense.
d64
A mass of squirming, mushroom-headed worms spills from a hollow log, their tiny teeth chattering as they crawl toward the scent of fresh air—or fresh prey.
d65
A grove of completely natural and uncorrupted trees stands perfectly still, their bark smooth and silver, with an unsettling quietness that mutes all sound. All fungal growths stop and come no nearer these trees than ten feet.
d66
A lumbering, fungus-covered bear looms out of the undergrowth, its fur completely replaced by shaggy mats of moss and mushrooms, and its limbs entirely formed from thick, braided mycelium. Its roar is weak and pathetic, but it claws are sharp and glisten with fungal ooze.
